いいまち、良い場所などをテーマとして取り上げ, 語り合うオンライン会議が今回設立されたeTOPOSの趣旨です。
e = イィ、良い、 TOPOSはギリシャ語で「場」
私たちの身のまわりにある日常の環境には居心地がとても良いとだれでもが感じるまち中の一角がある。そこは偶然にある場所なのか、いつから？ふと立ち止まって観察を高める。まち全体、まちはづれにも、この様なところがよくある。昔から人と馴染んできた落ち着き、自然さ、何か感じる特種な雰囲気が滲んでいる良さ。この質的要素を事例として、私たちのまちづくり、都市環境デザインに持ち込めないことだろうか。
皆さんを、eTOPOS 「良い場所づくり」オンライン勉強会に招待します。各々が現在住んでいるまち、訪問されたところ、旅先で体験したすばらしい空間、変形と共に長く継続されてきた事例、人々に馴染まれている公共の場、記憶に今なお忘れがたい良い場所、それらの話を是非、聞かせてください。このオンライン会議にのせてください。
eTOPOS is an online forum established to foster ongoing discussions on the theme of Good Places in our everyday environment – settings with timeless qualities of character, authenticity and enduring inhabitation. How did such places come about? How do they continue to thrive? What are the common denominators, qualities underlying their sustained resiliency? How can these precedents guide us in the design of future livable environments, our cities?
eTOPOS invites you to join the conversation about Good Places. Share with us about your town, where you have visited, their transformation and continuity over time, how you have found value and enrichment in your own life. Tell us that story. Who we are
神田駿は米国ボストン在の建築家＆教育者。母国日本を始め、アメリカ国内を隅から隅まで旅をし、イタリア、デンマーク、オランダ、南アフリカ、ブータンなどに滞在経験を持つ、グローバル体験者。MIT_JDWジャパンデザインワークショプ、VE_italiaヴェネトエクスペリエンス、i_ADW国際アドバンスデザインワークショプの設立者。その他、日米においての建築設計、都市デザイン、まちづくりなど数々のプロジェクト実籍がある。
Shun Kanda (kanda AT mit DOT edu) is an architect and educator based in Boston. He has traveled extensively in his native country of Japan and in the U.S. with sojourns in Italy, Netherlands, Denmark and Bhutan. He founded and directs the annual MIT Japan Design Workshop, the Veneto Experience_italia, and the i_ADW international Advanced Design Workshop. His projects include community design in regional villages, architectural and urban design in Japan and the U.S.
エミリー ロー ギブソンは建築デザイナー。コロンビア大学、マサチューセッツ工科大学で建築学を学ぶ。専門分野はディザスターレジリアンシー計画＆設計を含む。特にコミュニティーデザイン、地域計画を得意とする。ハイチ災害復興、アフリカ、日本の集落においての調査、研究を続けている。米国プリンストン在。
Emily Lo Gibson is a designer studying architecture at MIT, with a focus on disaster resiliency and community development in vulnerable locales. She has worked in the U.S. and Asia, lived in France and China, and assisted in recovery and development projects in Haiti, Sierra Leone, Japan, Cambodia, and El Salvador.
eTOPOS is funded by the Toshiba International Foundation, with affiliations with the MIT School of Architecture & Planning.
